Performance Issues
Introduction
This guide helps to troubleshoot performance issues with the Global Model Workstation software. There can be several reasons that your application's performance has deteriorated, from hardware limitations or software conflicts to restrictions placed by your IT department on vital directories.
RecentFiles.txt
- Open the Global Model Workstation application
- Click Help and select Open log files folder
- Locate the RecentFiles.txt
-
Rename the RecentFiles.txt file or move it to a different folder.
- Close the Global Model Workstation application, including any View and Download screens you may have open
- Reopen the application
Deleting this file will remove your recent databases from the "Database" drop down in GMW. This will not remove them from your C drive.
Insufficient File Permissions
WARNING: We strongly recommend a trained IT professional perform this task. Please consult your IT department before making changes to your system directory.
The Global Model Workstation requires "Full Control" permissions to the installation directory, usually found in C:\OEF. In the event that you have performance issues or receive an error message when attempting to open a database in the Global Model Workstation application, check the permission level of your user account on the respective folder.
- Navigate to the installation directory in File Explorer
- The default directory is C:\OEF
- Right click the directory and select Properties
- Review the Groups and user names box to confirm whether and to what level the user has access.
- If the user does not have access, grant the user with at least "Read/Write" permission.
